What Is Tourettes Syndrome?
Tourettes Syndrome is an unusual condition when people have no control over their body movements and sometimes even speech. They may make random movements with their bodies, as well as sometimes even blurt out random words. While many people used to think that it was a mental illness, it has actually been proven to be a neurological disorder. This syndrome is caused by chemical imbalance, genes, and an abnormality in the brain structure.
How do I know if I have it?
• Unusual movements such as twitching, hiccuping, blinking, sticking out your tongue, or even jerking your head.
• Blurting out random obscene language.
There are a number of medical ways to treat Tourettes Syndrome. You can take medications, go for brain surgery, or even go for psychotherapy.
While there are no ways to prevent this syndrome there are many things you can do to take care of yourself if you do have it. Stress therapy, anxiety management, and engaging in low stress activities are just a few.
