Jordin Sparks ill; Cancels Keys tour
April 23, 2008
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) — American Idol’s powerhouse winner of last year, Jordin Sparks, won’t be belting out those high notes any time soon. According to a recent report by Reuters, Sparks is suffering from acute vocal cord hemorrhage, ultimately forcing her to drop out of the Alicia Keys tour to recover.
This is probably a sore topic for Sparks who was part of the Keys tour that has only been launched recently. The bubbly 19-year old singer also has to sideline a few more gigs including the opening night of Keys’ tour Saturday in Hampton, Va., and an Earth Day gig at Washington, D.C.’s National Mall.
Although Sparks has been non-stop since her 2007 American Idol win, her record label (Jive Records) knows that her voice is what brings in the audience and have required her to rest. “Jordin is on a vocal rest, but she’s expected to make a full recovery and join Alicia on tour in May,” said a spokesperson for Sparks’ Jive label.
According to Reuters, “Sparks has been heating up the Billboard Hot 100 of late, reaching a new peak last week of No. 3 on the Hot 100 with the single “No Air” featuring labelmate Chris Brown.”
