Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (WiredPRNews.com) - The old adage is that dog is man’s best friend but sometimes, a dog might snap and turn on a human causing serious, if not fatal damage. It is imperative that all involved in a dog attack remains calm and remembers the following tips after the incident occurs.

Usually, dog bites are very painful and can remain swollen, infected and tender for the duration of recovery. The victim of an attack should immediately seek medical assistance to avoid or delay the development of a severe infection. Bites are so damaging that they may swell, bruise and in most of the cases, require stitches to the bitten area.

In most states, dogs are required by animal control authorities to be immunized for infectious diseases such as rabies and bordatella. Dog bites are severely harmful to the victim because the bite not only causes puncture wounds, but if the dog is a large breed such as a Rottweiler, the victim risks broken bones.

When the wound is entirely healed, the person may undergo surgery to improve the scar. The suffered person may also need therapy to eliminate the fear existing in the mind of that person when he is in the presence of dogs. The idea of seeking help from an authorized body is well-versed in the case of dog bites who know the related laws properly.

When attacked by a dog, keep calm and seek medical help immediately. By getting good medical treatment and being cautious around dogs with a tendency to bit, man’s best friend will remain calm and submissive.
