Hot Springs, Arkansas (WiredPRNews.com) — In an unexpected soaring of sales, the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac sales have soared off the charts, as reported by MacObserver.com.

On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that their sales for the 2008 version of Office for Mac has surpassed any prior years of sales for the software package. In another statement, Microsoft confirmed that the present version of the Office suite has outsold any other Mac packages sold for the brand in the past 19 years of sales.

The service pack SP1 for the suite was released at noon today by the Mac BU. Craig Eisler, GM of the Mac BU at Microsoft, stated, “The velocity of sales for Office 2008 is nearly three times as compared with the launch sales of Office 2004.”

In a recent estimate by Fortune Magazine, “Microsoft has had annual revenues in the past of about US$350M for the Mac productivity suite with profits as high as $200M. In addition, the NPG group has reported that 20 percent of Microsoft Office’s U.S retail sales are the Mac version.”

In light of those annual revenue numbers, it is no wonder why Microsoft has confirmed their commitment to the perfection and release of future Mac products and could indicate Microsoft’s move to announce the release of VBA support in the subsequent version.
