Gucci Cruise Collection 2009 displayed in Rome
July 10, 2008
New York City, New York (WiredPRNews.com) — Gucci’s Cruise 2009 collection was taken to the highest hill of Rome, the Gianicolo, on Tuesday night. Under the umbrella pines in front of a Hollywood audience, Italian artists and politico honchos, Frida Giannini, the designer staged the best ever fashion show in the house.
The event was staged in Villa Aurelia on the 70th birthday of Gucci’s Rome boutique in Tony Via Condotti. The opening of the store connected Gucci with heavy hitters of Hollywood in town shooting movies in Cinecitta which is a film studio in Italy.
The audience included Gianni Alemanno, actress Claire Danes with her boyfriend, Hugh Dancy, Maria Grazia Cucinotto and other local countesses and princes who formed the aristocratic audience. The collection was a mix of elegance and flirtation. The models included Nata Poly, Lily Donaldson and Maricarla Boscono who came onto the stage clutching patent tortoise totes and bags with hefty hearts of metals.
The soundtrack from the era of Giannini Gucci was played in the background, making it a new step towards the successful career of the designer. As far as the venue was concerned, the designer said that she loves the place because she got married there three years ago. The event also celebrated the remarkable financial performance of Gucci as its sales have cumulatively grown by 46% in the last three years. This was the first time Gucci displayed its cruise collection in Europe.
Gucci also included five evening gowns in honor of Rome that will be sold exclusively in a local boutique. The collection can be purchased from stores around the world beginning November 2008. In the coming season, Gucci girls will be seen wearing boyish flare pants with thick belts, fantasy printed tops and flirty open neck shirts topped with snug blazers featuring Gucci logos.
