South African Woman Says She is 134 Years Old

A woman in South Africa has stated she is 134 years old. As reported by CNN News’ Martin Geissler, if the claims are true, Kookoo Molookoo would be the oldest person to have ever lived. Purportedly born in 1874, Molookoo is stated to have 29 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. Because her birth pre-dated record keeping for births in Limpopo, South Africa, her birth certificate reflects a date based on an educated guess.
Molookoo credits her pro-longed life to a diet enriched with, among other things, spinach and a favorite drink, Coca-Cola. She is reportedly regarded as having a personable demeanor with a willingness to offer her humor and advice to those around her. One piece of advice she shared with reporter Geissler, in particular, was her view that “young people should trust God and respect their parents.” Doing so, in her view, will yield “a long and happy life.”
