Dallas News Reporter Tiffany Cherry - WiredPrNews.com - A recent study found new evidence that suggests that the virus causing the common cold alters the body’s genes which is what is now believed to be the cause of the symptoms that affect thousands of people at any given time.HRV is stated to be the root cause of up to 50 percent of common cold types, and can also make chronic conditions worse. As reported by Health Day, human rhinovirus (HRV) is not the actual culprit of coughing, sneezing, and other issues associated with suffering from a cold as once believed. In the study, released in The American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, it was found that after two days of being injected with HRV, 6,500 genes in participants had been altered. Those most affected included antiviral protein and pro-inflammatory chemical producing genes.According to researchers, the results of the study may potentially lead to a cure for the common cold, or more effective treatments for children and others with certain kinds of chronic conditions.
