Reports have surfaced regarding a furry intruder invading the home of an elderly couple in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday night. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, what has been deemed “the raccoon burglar” was discovered after police responded to a call regarding the possible burglary of the home of 85 year-old Bill Hyde and his wife.
The couple was reported to have been watching television before hearing noises outside the front door of their home. Mr. Hyde promptly responded by grabbing his gun and calling 911. After telling the operator that he believed an intruder was attempting to get inside of their home, officers were dispatched to their residence in Kessler Park, where the couple have lived for more than 30 years. When officers arrived, they discovered that the culprit was, in fact, a raccoon. However, the discovery did not put an end to the events of the night. The raccoon made its way into the couple’s home, and attempts were made to capture the creature by animal control. However, reports state that the animal hid inside a fire place, and later disappeared, making what the homeowner described as “a clean get away.”
