Climate Change Must Continue to be Focus of Governments - Global Wind Energy Council

Wired PR News.com – As warned on Tuesday by the Global Wind Energy Council, the issue of climate change must continue to be a major focal point for governments. As reported by AFP, waning in the battle for climate change to focus on economic financial issues may be detrimental to the future of civilization, according to the views of Council secretary general, Steve Sawyer.
Sawyer’s comments were in response to national governments that have expressed concerns that the problems they face in regards to economic struggles may force them to focus less attention or efforts on climate issues. Costs associated with previous plans for climate change have persuaded some countries, such as Italy, to consider postponing certain measures. Sawyer advised that postponing would hinder progress for reducing a larger amount of emissions in the long run.
Sawyer is set to head a wind power conference in Beijing which will begin on Wednesday. The council secretary general, who once served as Greenpeace’s CEO, campaigns for wind power sources of energy to be the most prominently used sources throughout the world.
