Great Dallas Attorney, Fred Baron, Passes Away After Battle with Cancer
Wired PR News.com – Dallas attorney, and famed Democratic fundraiser, Frederick Baron, has died. The 61 year-old lawyer passed away on Thursday after a lengthy battle with cancer, as reported by The Dallas Morning News.
Mr. Baron had recently been involved in a battle with drug company Biogen Idec Inc. for approval to use the experimental drug Tysabri in an attempt to save his life. The attorney had been granted permission during the final stage of his terminal condition.
Mr. Baron was regarded by many as “the King of Toxic Torts” after a successful career representing numerous individuals injured by asbestos and other toxic materials. The Iowa native received his law degree at the University of Texas in Austin in 1971, and founded his own firm, Baron & Budd, in Dallas in 1977.
Mr. Baron is also known for his fundraising efforts for the Texas Democratic Trust, which he founded in 2005. In 2003, he led the campaign for Democrat John Edwards.
Fred Baron was a resident of Dallas along with his wife and three younger children.
