Wired PR News.com – Two Irving, Texas ISD school buses were involved in a traffic accident on Friday in Dallas. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, nine children and two adults were reported to have sustained injuries, but none were severe.
The collision occurred on Stemmons Freeway, I-35 around 2:00 p.m. The children being driven on the buses were students from T.J. Lee Elementary in Irving. Eighty-five students were on the two buses returning from a school field trip in Lewisville. As determined in the report, one of the buses appeared to have hit the other while following it back to the school. The students were taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and the two adult drivers were examined at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
The accident caused damage to both vehicles, but no serious injuries were sustained. Traffic on Interstate 35 was delayed due to the accident throughout the afternoon. Regarding the students involved, a spokesperson for the school was quoted as stating, “They might be a little shaken up, but everybody appears to be OK.”
