Wired PR News.com – A woman who reportedly sustained injuries and damages to her vehicle after being hit by a speeding police car in Dallas was denied compensation by the city, as reported by WFAA-TV.
Tomikki Gray recalled the incident in which she became a bystander in a Dallas police car chase with an SUV, stating to reporters “I thought is he about to start shooting. Is someone chasing him? I looked in my review mirror and I saw the sirens and lights.” Gray subsequently was hit by the police vehicle, which was stated to have been going at 74 miles per hour. She sustained injuries as well as substantial damage to her vehicle as a result.
The city of Dallas has expressed they have no intent of paying for Gray’s totaled vehicle or her purported injuries, citing that the officer had authorization to pursue the suspect in the chase.
In regards to the issue of the city’s refusal to pay, Gray responded by saying, “I feel like if they caused whatever damage that I had or anyone else had, that they should be taken care of.”
