Wired PR News.com – YouTube recently gave their first ever “Visionary Award” to the Queen of Jordan for her efforts to eliminate stereotypes pertaining to Muslim and Arabian individuals, as reported by AFP. The Internet website facilitates video sharing between users, and has grown into one of the most utilized social networking sites used to date.
The Queen launched a channel on the website that provides a platform for individuals to discuss ideas about stereotyping. It has so far been reported to have generated three million views and thousands of messages from visitors.
Of the site, and her award, Queen Rania of Jordan was quoted as stating “YouTube encourages us to be active participants in a global conversation, making our voices heard, giving us the power to broadcast ourselves, increasing knowledge of each other, breaking down the barriers between us clip by clip.”
Queen Rania is the wife of King Abdullah II.
