Google Virtual Reality Service Meets Its Demise Next Month

Google may have climbed its way to the top as a search engine power house, taking the number one position over the competition, however, the company’s virtual reality service has met a different fate. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Google will shut down its website ‘Lively,’ due to its failure to successfully compete with popular online virtual reality worlds like Second Life.
Lively was launched in July, and had an initial following; however it never met the same success as faux world leader, Second Life, which allows people to completely live vicariously through digital avatars. As quoted in the AP report of Google management “We’ve also always accepted that when you take these kinds of risks not every bet is going to pay off.”
Google has stated that they will turn their primary focus now towards their Internet search engine and advertising.
