Wired PR News.com – A North Carolina man was tased while acting as a pallbearer during his father’s funeral. As reported by Fox 4 News, Gladwyn Russ III was handcuffed and arrested while assisting with loading his father’s casket into a hearse. In regards to his feelings during the arrest, Russ was quoted in the report as stating “I was just in awe. I didn’t know what was going on because I was watching my daddy’s casket pass through my hands for the last time.”
The police had a warrant for Russ’ arrest for threats he allegedly made against his wife. The deputies were said to have gone to his home on 19 different occasions prior to make the arrest.
The Sheriff of New Hanover County in North Carolina made an apology for the timing of the occurrence, and was quoted by Fox 4 as stating “They tried to arrest him as they were leaving the funeral home. That was our mistake. I take full responsibility for that. I’m sorry for any interruption this caused.”
