Dallas Area Church Goers Report on Aftermath of Controversial Pastor’s Challenge
Wired PR News.com – Recently, a North Texas pastor issued a challenge to married churchgoers to be intimate with their partners for seven days straight. The request was delivered in a controversial sermon that made headlines, and had some skeptical of the preacher’s motives for issuing what was termed a “sex challenge” to members of his congregation. As reported by CBS 11 News, members of the Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas who took part in the experiment provided an account of whether it worked, and what they learned from it all.
One couple, Cody and Amy Waddell reported to CBS 11 that the challenge was an opportunity to connect emotionally in addition to physically. Married for seven months, Cody Waddell remarked that it meant focusing on his partner’s needs, which is a key aspect of marriage. Quoted of Amy Waddell, “We don’t want to stop at the seven days. We’ve seen what it’s done for us with the intimacy; we’ll continue to do that.”
Pastor Ed Young of Fellowship, who vowed to take the challenge himself, admitted that he failed to meet his goal of having sex with his wife for seven days consecutively. Other members of his congregations admitted to a shortfall as well. However, many state that the deeper message of the challenge was understood.
