New Medical Study - High Protein Meals Can Aid in Weight Loss
A new study has shown that obese and overweight individuals may be able to burn more fat with weight loss initiatives when high protein meals are incorporated into their diets.
WiredPRNews.com As reported by Reuters Health, the small study revealed that the protein composition of meals correlates with the efficiency of fat burning within the body. Men and women were found to burn more fat after eating when more protein was taken in with breakfast and lunchtime meals.
Dr. Marijka Batterham, who was the lead researcher for the study, stated “Our research suggests that people with higher body fat burn fat better after a high-protein meal than people with lower levels of body fat.”
Other studies have listed protein as a meal component that facilitates increased weight loss as well. As stated in the Reuters report, this may be because protein is a more effective appetite suppressant.
The findings of the recent study can be found in the Nutrition & Dietetics journal’s December issue.
