Wal-Mart Employee Killed Friday by Uncontrolled Shoppers
Black Friday was expected to cause a stir in stores throughout the nation, with thousands of people out searching for early bargains.
Wired PR News.com – However, at one Wal-Mart store on Long Island the commotion took a fatal turn when an employee was killed by an impatient mob of shoppers.
As reported by the Associated Press, Jdimytai Damour of Queens was knocked down after a stampede of shoppers swarmed through the doors of the Valley Stream based Wal-Mart for the 5 a.m. sale. Other workers were caught in the tussle while trying to assist Damour. A few individuals were reportedly taken to hospitals after sustaining minor injuries. The crowd turned angry after store managers decided to close the store due to the death.
An estimated 2,000 people were stated by police to be outside the mall area, and part of the crowd that broke the doors and trampled over Damour after knocking him down. The 34 year-old was officially pronounced dead at 6:00 a.m.
Police have stated that criminal charges could possibly be brought against some of the individuals. Investigators are still looking into the case.
