Such a long Sentencing for Fallen football hero seems not a fair judgment comment many.
Wired PR News.com – Fallen football hero, O.J. Simpson was handed down a 33 year sentence on Friday, after being charged with several crimes related to a 2007 Las Vegas hotel robbery. As reported by the Associated Press, the 61 year-old member of the Football Hall of Fame pleaded for leniency to Judge Jackie Glass stating “I didn’t mean to steal anything from anybody … I’m sorry. I’m sorry for all of it.”
According to his sentence, Simpson may be eligible for parole after nine years behind bars. As noted in the report, Judge Glass commented to the court that the basis of granting him the sentence was not related to Simpson’s acquittal in 1995 of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown or her friend Ronald Goldman. However, the family of Goldman found satisfaction in knowing he would receive jail time stating “It was satisfying seeing him in shackles like he belongs.”
Glass’ sentencing combination was stated to be confusing even for legal professionals who were initially left unsure of the length of time Simpson would serve.
Simpson will be placed in a private cell due to his celebrity status. Attorneys for the ex-football pro were quoted by the AP as stating after the hearing “It really made us all aware that despite our best efforts, it’s very difficult to separate the California case from the Nevada case.”
