Lawsuit Against Dairy in China Refused by Court

Wired PR News.com – A Chinese court has recently rejected a lawsuit brought against a Chinese dairy for contaminated milk. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the suit was filed in connection to the thousands of children that have been reportedly made ill or killed as a result of consuming the tainted milk products.
Sixty-three defendants were named in the group lawsuit, which is identified as the first to arise out of the situation. The court reasoned that they rejected the suit due to current ongoing government investigations into the matter. Attorney and activist Li Fangping was quoted in the AP report to remark about the court’s decision “We think it was their excuse for not accepting the case. We will continue to push the case and give them pressure.”
The tainted milk was said to contain melamine, which is a chemical used in plastics and industrial products. The contamination has been reported to have killed 6 babies, and injured almost 300,000 others.
