Illinois Governor Reportedly Used Lottery Director Job as Payback
Governor Blagojevich reportedly refused appointment of wife of Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. for position as payback.
Wired PR News.com – Amidst the controversy of a Senate seat bribery scandal, Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich has found himself accused of more actions that border on abuse of power. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Blagojevich was said to refuse the wife of Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. a position as Lottery Director because her husband did not give him a $25,000 donation for his campaign.
A source was reported to have quoted the governor in the AP report as stating to Jackson Jr. “You know I was considering your wife for the lottery job and the $25,000 you didn’t give me? That’s why she’s not getting the job.”
Jackson was noted in the report to have discussed the governor with federal investigators in the years prior to the recent controversy.
