Wal-Mart Agrees to Write “Adolf Hitler” Name on Birthday Cake
Wal-Mart agrees to couple’s unusual request after another supermarket denies it.
Wired PR News.com – When a New Jersey couple recently asked a supermarket to write out their 3 year-old son’s name, Adolf Hitler Campbell, on a birthday cake, their quest was denied. However, the couple subsequently took their unusual request to Wal-Mart, and the cake was decorated accordingly. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), ShopRite is now defending their refusal to write the name on the cake stating “We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate… We considered this inappropriate.”
Wal-Mart has also gone on the defense for their actions, with a spokesperson quoted as stating in the AP report “It’s clear that in serving this customer, some people were offended… As a result, we’re going to review our policies.”
The couple have stated that their name choice is attributed to a fondness for and uniqueness of the name as opposed to racism. They also have children named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell. However, the father Heath Campbell has said that despite his being raised to not socialize with people of different races, he planned to not set such constraints on his children.
