Wired PR News.com — Many North Texas residents are said to show high interest in making the trip to D.C. in January to witness the Inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama. As reported by WFAA News, many are making plans to attend the event to witness history, despite the high expenses one could possibly be required to pay.
Roy C. Brooks, a Commisioner of Tarrant County, was quoted in the news report as stating, “It is that big and that important that I would hitchhike if I had to, in order to get there.”
The Fort Worth Independent School District is slated to take a group of students and faculty, which is expected to cost approximately $1,800 per person. The city’s police department has been asked to help with security for the event. Expenses for 100 officers to go will cost around $90,000, however the U.S. Marshal’s and Attorney’s offices would reportedly take care of the bill.
Inauguration Day is January 20.
