Executives of rescued financial institutions still reportedly getting same perks.
Wired PR News.com – Wall Street executives have been accused of not changing some of their spending habits despite financial issues that warranted the need for massive government assistance. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), six of the financial institutions that received billions in government bailout money are still utilizing corporate jets for business operations as well as personal trips.
Some are questioning why the use of this expensive means of travel by the firms has not been an issue for Congressional leaders who were so reluctant to give automakers bailout assistance due to the anticipated possibility of misuse of funds.
Firms like American International Group Inc. have stated the use of the aircrafts, which can cost as much as $20,000 for fuel alone for a trip across the country, is presently done sparingly.
Congress criticized auto executives weeks ago for using corporate jets to get to Washington for a meeting to request federal aid.
