Illinois Governor Senate appointee set to be met with opposition when arriving on Capitol Hill.
Wired PR News.com – Controversial governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich recently made a bold move and appointed someone to fill the Senate seat of President Elect Barack Obama, amidst strong demands for his resignation or impeachment. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Senate now has plans to object to the swearing in of Blagojevich’s pick, Roland Burris, regardless of his qualifications.
The Senate previously warned that any choice of the governor, who was arrested for attempting to sell the Senate seat, would not be accepted because of the charges against him. However, some now are critical of the Senate’s decision to attempt to bar someone who could potentially be the only African American on the Senate. As noted by the AP, Burris has threatened legal action against the Senate if they hold steadfast in their refusal to swear him in.
