Scientists have begun the recruitment process for a study that will be the largest ever conducted on US child health.
Wired PR News.com – Scientists are seeking to include 100,000 children from across the U.S. in a study on child health. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the recruitment process began in New York and North Carolina this week for what has been deemed the largest study pertaining to the topic in the country.
Dr. Philip Landrigan one of the study’s researchers is quoted in the report as stating, “We are embarking on the road to discovering the preventable causes of the major chronic diseases that plague American children today.”
As noted in the AP report, planning for the National Children’s Study, which seeks to determine the effect of environment and genetic interaction on child health and development, has taken almost ten years.
The study will reportedly track individuals from conception to age 21.
