New Stimulus May Exceed $800 Billion
A new economic stimulus package may reportedly cost $850 billion.
Wired PR News – Congressional leaders are working to prepare a bill for a new plan for effectively stimulating the U.S. economy. As reported by Reuters, Democrats in Congress and aides to the United States President Elect, Barack Obama, are creating a measure that could cost approximately $850 billion. The report further notes that plans could be disclosed on Thursday.
The new bill is stated to be expected to focus on tax cuts, construction projects across the nation, and the creation of millions of new jobs in an effort to help bring an end to the recession.
Obama has previously expressed hopes that a bill could be agreed upon and ready to be put into action on the day of his Inauguration. Many have stated that having a plan to put in place that soon would be a stretch, if not impossible. However, others say that the pressing need for swift action might cause it to occur.
Inauguration Day is Tuesday, January 20.
