Obama Poignant Letter
Obama says in open letter to daughters that they and a desire to help all children were the reason he ran for president.
Wired PR News.com – President Elect Barack Obama released an open letter on Thursday expressing his hopes for children in America and what inspired him to run for office. As reported by AFP, Obama spoke movingly of daughters Malia and Sasha citing them as well as a desire to better the circumstances for all children in the country as his reason for running for president.
The President elect is quoted as stating, “I realized that my own life wouldn’t count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfilment in yours. In the end, girls, that’s why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.”
Obama further stated that his vision for America is it becoming one that goes “beyond the divides of race and region, gender and religion that keep us from seeing the best in each other.”
The President Elect will officially move into the White House on Tuesday.
