New Study - Men may have better hunger control qualities
A new study finds that women may not be as able to suppress their hunger as men.
Wired PR News.com – A new study has provided evidence that men may have better hunger control qualities than women. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the findings may be beneficial in understanding why obesity rates are higher for women.
Researchers for the study performed and analyzed brain scans for 13 women and 10 men, who were asked to fast overnight. As quoted of Gene-Jack Wayne, who took part in conducting the research, “There is something going on in the female… the signal is so much different.” The participants of the study’s brain signals were examined based on their response to seeing their favorite foods. Wang is further quoted as stating, “Even though the women said they were less hungry when trying to inhibit their response to the food, their brains were still firing away in the regions that control the drive to eat.”
Detailed information pertaining to the study is featured in the new edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
