Caroline Kennedy No Longer in Running for Senate
Caroline Kennedy makes decision to withdraw her bid as Hilary Clinton’s replacement for the New York senate seat.
Wired PR News.com — Caroline Kennedy has purportedly withdrawn her bid to fill Hilary Clinton’s seat on the Senate. As reported by Reuters, the daughter of assassinated former President John F. Kennedy informed New York Governor David Paterson of her decision on Wednesday.
Clinton was officially sworn in as Secretary of State on Wednesday; however, as noted in the Reuters report, Governor Paterson has decided to name a replacement for the post after Clinton resigns.
In a New York Times report, Kennedy’s decision was attributed to health concerns for her uncle, Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy, who suffered a seizure at Tuesday’s Inaugural luncheon and was subsequently hospitalized.
Andrew Cuomo, New York Attorney General, is now viewed by some as possibly the most viable candidate left to fill the post.
