More video games are being made to allow player imagination to have a significant role in gamers being able to control their own gaming experience.
Wired PR News.com – A new breed of video games is being born that allows players to be instrumental in the creation of their own gaming experience. As reported by Reuters, companies such as Electronic Arts (EA) and Sony Computer Entertainment have helped launch a new video game genre that warrants more creative input from players. The games “Spore” and “LittleBigPlanet,” which have helped usher in the new movement, have a sequel and expansions in the works.
As noted in the AP article, “Spore” is recognized as EA’s quickest selling game of any ever produced by the company, and is also noted to be the one with the highest rankings in history for EA’s launch of a new game. Morgan Roarty, “Spore Galactic Adventures” Executive Producer, is quoted in the AP report as stating, “We made “Spore” powerful enough to enable players to make their own content and now we’ve made something that enables players to use that content to tell their own stories and make their own games.”
