Illinois Governor admits to once considering Oprah for Obama’s replacement on the Senate.
Wired PR News.com – Controversial Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich conducted an interview Monday with “Good Morning America” in which he stated Oprah was once on his list of picks for a successor for President Barack Obama’s Senate seat. As reported by Reuters, the governor said a friend’s suggestion of offering the seat to the talk show giant almost became a reality.
Blagojevich is quoted in the Reuters report as stating in the interview, “She seemed to be someone who had helped Barack Obama in a significant way become president…She was obviously someone with a much broader bully pulpit than other senators.” Blagojevich further stated “She probably wouldn’t take it, and then … if you offered it to her, how would you do it in a way it didn’t look like it was some gimmick and embarrass her.”
