A Texas mother has been found guilty of capital murder in the death of her infant daughter.

WiredPRNews.com – A woman was convicted Monday for the death of her two year old daughter. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Kimberly Trenor was found guilty by jurors after only two hours of deliberation in connection to the fatal beating of her daughter, and subsequent dumping of her body in the Galveston Bay. Trenor was sentenced to life without parole.

Trenor was accused of the brutal beating along with her husband Royce Clyde Zeigler II in 2007, after the remains of Riley Ann Sawyers were found. It took approximately three weeks for authorities to identify the toddler, who had been nicknamed “Baby Grace” before her real name was known.

Kurt Sistrunk, Galveston County District Attorney, is quoted by the AP as stating after the conviction, “Justice has been served today. Today it’s about Riley.” Sgt. Michael Barry is also quoted as remarking, “We all made a promise to that little girl … that we would find the people responsible for her death and bring them to justice and we did.”
