President Obama responded to Republican critics of stimulus bill on Wednesday.
Wired PR News.com – President Barack Obama reacted to Republican opposition to his stimulus bill on Wednesday warning that failure to reasonably act could worsen or prolong the economic crisis. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama stated to GOP critics of the bill, who remain leery of its spending provisions and insist on increased tax cuts, “Let’s not make the perfect the enemy of the essential” and that the criticisms “echo the very same failed economic theories that led us into this crisis in the first place, the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems.”
Congress is currently working to reach an agreement on a measure to help boost the economy. As noted in the AP report, Senate Democrats have expressed intentions to have legislation ready to be signed by late next week, which will likely include reductions in spending as requested by Republicans.
