The president recorded a personal video released online about his plan for America’s economic recovery.
WiredPRNews.com – President Barack Obama recently released a video online to directly speak to Americans about the plans of his administration to get the country on the road to economic recovery. In the approximate five minute YouTube clip, released through BarackObama.com, the President states, “If you haven’t been affected by this crisis, you’ve likely comforted somebody who has.”
Obama further speaks of the economic stimulus package that is currently making its way through Congress and the importance of passing it with hast. Obama states, “If we fail to pass it promptly, our economy will fall one trillion dollars short of what it’s capable of producing this year. In order to make up that difference, economists agree we must act boldly.”
Of what the plan will do, President Obama points out that at its root is putting “Americans to work, doing the work that America needs done” creating or saving “more than three million jobs all across the country over the next two years.” The package also is said to include immediate tax cuts, unemployment insurance, health insurance, and other items that will benefit millions of individuals fairly quickly. If the plan is passed, Obama states that the website, Recovery.com will go live so that Americans will be able to track how their tax dollars are being spent.
