Verizon to Announce New Wireless Service
Verizon mimics Alltel “My Circle” plan with new service.
Wired PR News.com – Verizon Wireless will soon offer subscribers a new service that will enable them to call an expanded list of people for free. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company is expected to announce Thursday the availability of a new feature “Friends & Family” which is similar to Alltel Corp.’s “My Circle.” With the service, subscribers can choose five or ten phone numbers to call without having to use minutes available with their plan.
Verizon purchased Alltel Corp. in January. The additional feature enables customers formerly with Alltel to keep the benefits of their current “My Circle” feature. “Friends & Family” will reportedly be available for qualifying plans on Sunday. Customers will not have to pay an additional charge for the service, however, as noted in the report, the number of phone numbers that may be added varies in accordance with what plan one may have.
