Obama Speaks About Stimulus Passage
Obama states stimulus passage is significant “milestone” for the country.
WiredPRNews.com – President Barack Obama spoke about the passing of the stimulus bill in his weekly radio and online address on Saturday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the President regarded its passage as a “major milestone on our road to recovery.”
Obama is further quoted in the report as stating, “I will sign this legislation into law shortly, and we’ll begin making the immediate investments necessary to put people back to work doing the work America needs done.” However, the president is quoted as cautioning Americans, “This historic step won’t be the end of what we do to turn our economy around, but rather the beginning. The problems that led us into this crisis are deep and widespread, and our response must be equal to the task.”
The $787 billion stimulus bill was passed by Congress on Friday in a 60-38 Senate vote and a 246-183 vote in the House.
