A Texas based plant has been ordered to recall every product they have ever shipped.
Wired PR News.com – In a shocking move, officials have ordered that all products in a Texas based peanut plant be recalled. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Texas based Peanut Corp. of America plant, located in the city of Plainview, was ordered to shut down in addition to the recall after health officials discovered dead rodents and other infestations near a production area. The plant voluntarily closed Monday, but was later ordered to close indefinitely after it was also discovered that it was in operation without a license and had not been inspected in almost four years, since first opening.
The Peanut Corp. of America has been deemed the source of a widespread salmonella outbreak that has sickened an estimated 600 people nationwide, and possibly contributed to at least 8 deaths. As noted by the AP, the Virginia based company is under federal investigation for the matter.
