Police officers confiscate a man’s “Abort Obama” sign but are later instructed to return it.

WiredPRNews.com – Police in Oklahoma confiscate a man’s “Abort Obama” sign, but are subsequently forced to return it after being declared “overzealous.” As reported by the Associated Press (AP) the officers seized a sign stating “Abort Obama not the unborn” from the pickup of Hal Harrison, a construction worker.

Secret Service workers subsequently interviewed the man regarding alleged threats against the president, perceived from his homemade sign. However, Capt. Steve McCool of the Oklahoma City Police Department is quoted as stating of the occurrence, “The officer was a little overzealous in terms of what the sign meant… He made a decision based on his determination, and once the supervisor got involved, we returned the sign.” McCool is also stated to have noted that there was no wrongdoing in the officer’s actions even though the sign was determined to be non-threatening.

Harrison, who has now placed the sign back on his vehicle, is said to be considering filing a civil suit in the matter.
