National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers - Contemporary Artist Celebrates

New Orleans (WiredPRNews.Com) Contemporary artist, portrait painter, author and longstanding friend to the trial lawyer community, Trevor Goring is celebrating fifteen years of collaboration with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers at their 2009 conference in New Orleans.

Since 1994 criminal defense lawyers across the United States and Canada have been collecting original paintings and limited edition prints by the artist Trevor Goring. His work is recognized as a powerful expression of the true values of those committed to civil rights and liberties that are fundamental to our democracy, a rational and humane criminal justice policy that promotes fairness for all, due process, compassion for witnesses and victims of crime and just punishment for the guilty.

His painting of Nemesis (displayed here) hangs in the Washington headquarters of the NACDL and bears the inscription: She who none can escape. Nemesis even-handedly restores the equilibrium of justice.

Works on exhibition at the Royal Sonesta Hotel conference will include portraits of such criminal defence icons as Lincoln, Clarence Darrow, Earl Rogers, Bobby Lee Cook, Richard “Racehorse” Haynes and Thurgood Marshall. Other images portray revered champions of justice like Cicero, Sir Thomas More, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, Melvin Belli and the ever popular fictional character, Atticus Finch.
