NFL Fan Amasses $28,000 Phone Bill on Laptop
A man gets billed over $28,000 in ATT charges after watching a Bears game.
Wired PR News.com – A man received a $28,000 phone bill from ATT after watching an NFL game on his laptop computer while taking a Caribbean cruise. As reported on Yahoo! Tech, Wayne Burdick of Illinois wrote to an advice columnist in the Chicago Sun-Times regarding getting the surprisingly astronomical bill reduced.
Burdick reportedly stated he used his ATT wireless card to watch a Bears game via his laptop while in a Miami cruise port. However, he was charged international roaming fees for watching the two-hour program, which left him with a bill for over $28,000.
Burdick received help from the Sun-Times columnist, “The Fixer,” in getting to the root of the issue. Proof was provided that he was still in Miami at the time the charges incurred, and ATT footed the bill as a result of what was found to be an issue with the wireless card picking up the wrong signal.
