Dallas Initiative Trades Guns for Groceries
Dallas sponsors anti-crime event to get people to trade in their guns.
Wired PR News.com – The City of Dallas will host an anti-crime event Saturday for individuals willing to surrender their firearms. As posted on the Dallas City Hall blog of the Dallas Morning News website, Dallas police along with area radio stations such as 97.9 The Beat, and other organizations will sponsor a gun buy back event where individuals can trade their unloaded, operational guns for a $50 gift card to Kroger grocery store.
The event will be held at the Reunion Arena from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 in the afternoon. Those who participate in the trading will be required to show identification. As noted on the blog, the money used to purchase the gift cards will not be public funds, but funds of sponsors who will be provided 30 percent discounts by Kroger.
