Ex-Prisoner Requests More Jail Time
An unemployed ex-prisoner asked police to send him back to jail due to harsh economic circumstances.
WiredPRNews.com – An ex-con in Taiwan asked authorities if he could return to prison amidst difficult economic times. As reported by Reuters, the 45 year old jobless man, who had formerly been convicted of arson and served ten years in prison, requested to be sent back so that he would be able to eat. Police officers refused his request, but took the man food after finding him lying on a street in a shopping area in Taipei according to a report from the China Post newspaper.
The officers are quoted in the report as stating of the man, “We advised him to keep looking for work…I don’t know why he can’t find a job. Maybe employers think he’s not suitable or that he’s too old.”
Taiwan is currently in a recession.
