Man Receives Ticket After Saving Lives
A man is given a jaywalking ticket after preventing three people from being run over.
WiredPRNews.com – A man in Denver was ticketed after preventing three individuals from being struck by a pickup truck. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), bus driver Jim Moffett sustained injuries after being hit by the vehicle when he pushed three people out of its path. The 58 year-old, along with another man, was said to be helping two elderly women with crossing a busy street during a snowstorm.
Trooper Ryan Sullivan of the Colorado State Patrol is noted in the AP report to have stated Moffett’s jaywalking was a contributing factor in the accident. Moffett and the other man were issued citations for jaywalking afterward, while an ongoing investigation persists. The women were not cited.
As stated by the AP, Moffett, who was listed in serious but stable condition as of Wednesday, sustained injuries to his brain, shoulder, and possibly his spleen as well as broken bones after being hit. His stepson Ken McDonald is quoted as stating of his stepfather, after he was told about the ticket following waking up in intensive care, “His reaction was dazed and confused. I was a little angry.”
The driver of the pickup truck was given a citation for careless driving.
