Obama Seeks Additional Health Care Aid

The President is proposing that over $600 billion in aid be set aside for health care over the next ten years.
WiredPRNews.com – President Barack Obama is seeking $634 billion in health care aid to be set aside over the course of ten years. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama’s request of Congress will increase taxes for those who earn more than $250,000 per year, cut costs on Medicare, and make the recent $400 tax cut for the majority of workers permanent. The $634 billion total is said to be a little over half the money needed to make medical care available for everyone.
As noted in the AP report, the budget plan calls for allowing individuals to choose from insurance plans, physicians, and continuing coverage from employers, and also giving workers the option of maintaining health care benefits when switching jobs.
In addition to that proposed for health care, the President is anticipated to request billions more in funding for the Defense Department and other priorities.
