Two NFL players have been reported missing aboard boat off of the Florida Coast.
Wired PR News.com – Two NFL players have been reported missing after not returning from a fishing trip off of Florida’s Gulf Coast Saturday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper are among four individuals stated to be missing aboard a vessel that left Clearwater Pass early Saturday. Coast Guard crews searched surrounding areas on Sunday via boat and helicopter for the vessel.
Ron Del Duca, an agent for Smith, is quoted in the report as stating of his communications with Coast Guard officials, “They’ve assured me that they’re deploying all available resources to look for these guys and get them back.”
Smith is a defensive end for the Detroit Lions. Cooper is a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. The two were formerly teammates while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004.
