The famed Texas roller coaster ride will be closed for renovations during the 2010 Six Flags Over Texas season.
Wired PR News.com – Six Flags Over Texas is set to close their Texas Giant roller coaster ride for the 2010 season. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the wooden roller coaster will reopen in 2011, Six Flags’ 50th anniversary season, after receiving a $10 million makeover.
A spokesperson for Six Flags, Sharon Parker, is said to have stated that the ride is expected to remain open through Fright Fest, during the Halloween season in the amusement park. Parker is quoted as stating, “We do have big plans for one last ride on the original Texas Giant before the end of the 2009 season.”
Having opened in 1990, the Texas Giant has been ranked among the top wooden roller coasters by various publications and groups.
