Actor Ron Silver Passes Away from Cancer
The Tony winning actor died Sunday after a battle with esophageal cancer.
Wired PR News – Award winning actor and producer Ron Silver has passed away. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the star died on Sunday at age 62 after a battle with cancer. Robin Bronk with the Creative Coalition, and organization co-founded by Silver, is quoted in the report as stating, “Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him early Sunday morning… He had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years.”
Silver who has starred in hit programs such as “The West Wing,” is also known for his outspoken views regarding the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars, having spoken out in support of former President George W. Bush after being recognized as a longtime Democrat.
Bronk is further quoted by the AP as stating of Silver, “He was a talented actor, a scholar and a great believer in participatory democracy… He was an activist who became a great artist and his contributions will never be forgotten.”
