Google Announces Free Books for Sony Device
Google makes 500,000 books available for the Sony e-book reader.
Wired PR News – Google Inc. will make 500,000 books available for the Sony e-book reading device that will be free for users. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the move will be a first for Google, who had yet to make their extensive book collection available for an e-book device before. The collection will put Sony’s electronic book reader ahead of Amazon’s popular Kindle in terms of having a larger library with 600,000 books.
A spokesperson for Google, Jennie Johnson, is quoted in the report as stating of Google’s desire to make the book collection available on a broad scale, “Really our vision is: any book, anywhere, any time and on any device… We want to partner with anybody who shares our vision of making them more accessible.”
Information about the Reader can be found at the Sony website.
