Jury Convicts Austrian Incest Father
A jury convicts Josef Fritzl of homicide.
Wired PR News – A jury has found a father who imprisoned his daughter for 24 years guilty of homicide. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Josef Fritzl, was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the death of one of the seven children he fathered with his daughter while she was confined to a basement for more than two decades.
The Austrian man was ordered to serve his sentence in a psychiatric facility. As noted in the AP report, in addition to being found guilty of homicide, the 73 year-old was also convicted of incest, enslavement, rape, and other charges in connection to his shocking actions. He was given the maximum sentence the law allows for the homicide crime categorized as “murder by neglect.”
Fritzl reportedly waved his right to appeal after being given Thursday’s verdicts.
